The New York Office of Mental Health (OMH) has released a new funding opportunity for HealthySteps expansion. This is part of Governor Hochul’s multi-year plan to transform the continuum of mental health care in New York State.
Any primary care office where babies receive well-child visits, including family medicine, Federally Qualified Health Centers, and pediatrics, are eligible to apply. The deadline to apply is November 5, 2024. NY OMH anticipates making up to 50 awards across the state. View the RFP for more details.
Governor Hochul highlighted this latest round of investment in a recent release, explaining, “Expanding access to early childhood care is part of our comprehensive approach to supporting families across New York. As New York’s first mom Governor, this is personal for me – and I’ll never stop working to ensure that every child gets the care they need.”
Office of Mental Health Commissioner Dr. Ann Sullivan said, “Expanding HealthySteps will partner more mental health practitioners with families in pediatricians’ offices to support the growth and development of young New Yorkers. The program helps families to address their child’s physical and emotional needs in a welcoming environment. Governor Hochul’s continued support for this program is helping families get the emotional support they need at a time when early intervention is most effective.”
