While there is room for improvement to ensure that all babies and toddlers get a strong start in life in Massachusetts, there are many positive indicators, including a low rate (3%) of uninsured children, and high rate of children who received preventive medical care (97%) and recommended vaccines (84%).

Other promising news is that the state continues to invest in policies that support positive outcomes. These include MassHealth (Medicaid) innovations in primary care payment and commitment to improved access to a continuum of behavioral health services for children, including access to preventive services for young children and families in pediatric primary care.
